A scene should be selected by the writer for haunted-ness-of-mind interest. If you're not haunted by something, as by a dream, a vision, or a memory, which are involuntary, you're not interested or even involved.

The reason for this is because if the story is not haunting, the reader will stop reading it quickly. Also the reader will think the author is boring them because he doesn't know how to make a story that can make you feel something.
